Rezki Lestari, a 2013 alumna of the Faculty of Engineering and Science, shared the first day of her experience coming to Hankuk University of Foreign Studies to do her Master degree.
I have arrived in Korea and today is the first day Im going to the lab. I have met Prof. Chunli and he looks very young. I have also gone around the lab and the Indonesian students here are from Technology Institute of Bandung. The others are from India, Vietnam and Korea. There are also a few rooms in the lab to store the results of the experiments and a room to do the experiment. The university is still on holidays, so there are no college activities. People use Korean and English for conversation here, however as many of the people I met did not speak English fluently, I can still understand what they say and I can also join a Korean course for free. The professor is very kind, he just asked me to handle some documents and see how my friends are doing the experiment.
It only takes me 5 minutes to college by bus from my place, and the weather here is 3C which is warm enough. My place is also very strategic because it’s very near to a garden, supermarket, and there’s a kind of pasar kaget every 2nd, 7th, 12th, 17th, 22nd and 27th, where the price is not so expensive. I can’t eat all the food on sale, so if I need some kosher food I have to go to a town called Itewon where the majority of population in the town is muslim. Almost every supermarket has kosher food sold, but thedistance from my place is quite far, maybe about 2 hours by bus.

That’s all my story about my first days in Hankuk. Please wish me to have a good new life.

Thank you.
