Pre-Departure

1. International students are advised to apply at least 4 months before the semester begins and to obtain a visa to enter Indonesia. To study in Universitas Nasional (UNAS), you are strongly recommended to apply for VITAS (Limited Stay Visa). There are three kinds of VITAS valid for: 6 months, 12 months, and 24 months. The issuance of this visa will require a Study Permit  (Izin Studi) issued by DIKTI (the Directorate General of Higher Education of Indonesia – Jakarta), the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia.

The required documents for the study permit are as follows:

  1. A Cover Letter from your home university;
  2. A Letter of petition from you;
  3. A Copy of valid passport with the relevant pages;
  4. A Letter of financing guarantee;
  5. Colored 4X6 cm photographs in red background;
  6. A Copy of the latest diploma and transcripts;
  7. A Letter of recommendation issued from Office of International Cooperation UNAS;
  8. A Guaranteed letter from you for not participating in any political activities during your study in Indonesia;
  9. A Guaranteed letter from you for not working while studying in Indonesia;
  10. A Guaranteed letter from you, signed on legal stamp, to obey the regulations of the Republic of Indonesia;
  11. A Cover Letter from UNAS to be sent to the Bureau of Planning and Foreign Cooperation of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia;
  12. A copy of Health Insurance Card with the relevant information stating your health condition;
  13. A Curriculum Vitae (CV).

Note:
As Study Permit and VITAS are applied before your arrival, the above documents should be sent to the Office of International Cooperation to be processed by the Immigration Office in Jakarta. When approved, the Immigration Office will send a telex of a letter of approval to the Indonesian Embassy or Consular Office in your country.

2. Within 7 days after arriving in Indonesia, you should register yourself to begin the process of getting KITAS (Limited Stay Permit Visa). The requirements to get KITAS:

  1. A  Letter of Sponsorship from UNAS;
  2. A Copy of Curriculum Vitae (CV);
  3. A Copy of Valid passport with relevant pages;
  4. A Copy of VITAS;
  5. A Copy of white landing card (departure card);
  6. A Copy of Study Permit from the Ministry of National Education;
  7. A Copy of Visa authorization;
  8. 6 Colored 3X4 cm photographs and 6 colored  2X3 cm photographs with red background;
  9. 1 Immigration form that has been completed.

3. Go to PPMB (Admission unit) in UNAS to pay for the registration form to apply to the intended department/faculty and pay the tuition fee at: BANK MANDIRI

4. Go to BAA (Bureau of Academic Administration) UNAS bringing the copy of registration and tuition fee payment receipts to get NPM (Student Registration Number).

5. Go to the local Immigration Office and within two (2) weeks will get your KITAS.

6. After getting your KITAS, you should obtain STM (Police Report) and SKLD (Self Residing Report). The requirements to get both documents are as follows:

  1. A KITAS (yellow card from the immigration office);
  2. A Letter of Sponsorship from UNAS;
  3. A Copy of VITAS;
  4. A Copy of Landing Card;
  5. A Copy of Buku Mutasi (the blue book from the Immigration Office);
  6. A Copy of Study Permit from the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia;
  7. 5 Colored 4X6 cm photographs and 5 colored 3X4 cm photographs in red background;
  8. Police form that has been completed.

7. The final step is to apply for SKPPS (Letter of Temporary Resident) from the sub district to become a temporary resident of Jakarta. The following documents are required:

  1. A Letter of Sponsorship from UNAS;
  2. A Copy of passport, including the new stamp from immigration office;
  3. A Copy of VITAS;
  4. A Copy of white landing card;
  5. A Copy of  KITAS (yellow card from immigration office);
  6. A Copy of  Buku Mutasi (a blue book from immigration office);
  7. A Copy of STM/SKLD from the police (you should also bring the original one);
  8. A Copy of Study Permit from the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia;
  9. 4 Colored 4×6 cm with red background.

Note:
Most of the steps can be assisted/done by the Office of International Cooperation UNAS with a fee of IDR 4.000.000.
